Ans:- The preamble to the Indian constitution enshrines the main ideals od Indian constitution. These principles and ideals are:
(i) Justice – social, economic and political
(ii) Liberty – of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship.
(iii) Equality – of status and opportunity.
(iv) Fraternity – dignity of the individual, unity and integrity of the nation.
9. What is economic and social justice? HS-2011
Ans:- Economic justice means equal pay for equal work, no discrimination in case of wage between male and female labour, establishment of socialism through redistribution of national incomeetc.
Social justice means the social system should be based on the ideals of equality, liberty and fraternity. All the people are equal in the eyes of law.
10. Write down the preamble of the India constitution.
Ans:- The preamble of the Indian constitution has been described as:
“We the people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a sovereign, socialist secular, Democratic, Republic and to secure to all its citizens: Justice-Social, economic and political liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship.
Equality of status and opportunity, and to promote among them all.
Fraternity, assuring the dignity of individual and the unity an integrity of the nation.
In our constituent Assembly the twenty sixth day of November 1949, did here by adopt, enact and give to ourselves this constitution.

Ans:- India is called a sovereign, socialist, secular, Democratic, Republic state because:-
(i) Sovereignty: The Preamble of the Constitution calls India a sovereign nation. It proves that India is independent both in external and internal matte Internal independence means that India can make both general and constitution laws without the influence of an external force.
(ii) Socialism: 42nd Amendment included the word ‘Socialistic’ in the Preamble with an aim of ensuring equal distribution of wealth among the people of the country. But socialism envisaged in Indian Constitution is not state socialism which involves nationalisation of all the means of production and the abolition of private property.
(iii) Secularism:- The word Secularism was included only in 1976 by the 42nd Amendme India is a secular country – it means people have freedom of practicing religion they want. This is a positive view. There is no state religion and government does not support or promote any particular religion.
(iv) Democracy: Another principle included in the Preamble is democracy. In India democratically elected government is in power. The Indian Constitution gives equal political rights to all – right to vote, right to contest elections etc.
(v) Republic:- In a Republic the head of the state is elected and not hereditary. The President of India is the Head of the State and he is elected throught indirect election.
12. Write a short note on the Political Philosophy of Indian Constitution. HS-2019
(OR) What do you understand about the Philosophy of the Indian Constitution?
Ans:- The philosophy of the Indian constitution can be discuss as under:
(i) The constitution of India makes it quite clear that the framers of our country’s constitution were not only conscious to frame it for the governance of the country but they were greatly concerned to express their vision for a new society and polity.
(ii) No doubt, there were differences of opinion among the members of the constituent Assembly while debating upon the high ideals aims and objectives of the constitution. But ultimately they reached a consensus. It is that element of consensus among the founding fathers of constitution which reflected in the preamble of the constitution.
(iii) Looking at the preamble to the constitution, we feel that it has attempted to set a good Provide a vision and direction in building a new social order which is not only democratic but also equal and justice. It is a vision which is humanistic, democratic, secular and socialist.
(iv) The philosophy of the constitution of India also aim at the projection fundamental rights and civil liberties of Indian citizens.
Thus we may say that the Indian constitution is based on the philosophy of liberal welfare- democratic society. As these ideals and values of the Indian state finds a place in the preamble, we may notice that the philosophy of the constitution finds its expression in the preamble to the constition.
